Topic: Opera Together - a program to introduce opera to Sonoma County Elementary School students
Rachel Parker is a member of the SF Opera Guild’s Education Council, which every year produces Opera Together to bring opera to children throughout the Greater Bay Area. Rachel coordinates the Sonoma County volunteers who serve as docents for the performances, introducing the opera to the audience and assisting the performers as needed.
In 2025, SF Opera performers visited more than a dozen schools throughout Sonoma and Napa counties, to perform Rossini’s The Barber of Seville. Hundreds of children, teachers, and parents enjoyed the abbreviated version of this well-known opera, with students filling in admirably in various roles.
Watching these performances come together with just one rehearsal is a marvel. The professionals spend weeks preparing so that they can help…
